JAMES BARKER

- British PRO MX2
- Dutch Championship
- EMX250
- 2024 KTM SXF 250
I started riding when I was 3 years old on a cheap Chinese bike, I started racing when I was 5 doing a enduro as my first race. Then started racing motorcross.
I’ve had some lows with having some big crashes and some serious injuries. But with all set backs there’s always a goal to come back stronger.
My future goals would be to race in the world championships in the mx2 class.

2024 I will be competing at the European championship and the world championship. I started riding at about 3 in the field, however I wasn’t allowed to do it properly so I just had to watch James. I eventually got bored so I begged my dad for a bike, after a year of persuading I got my brothers old Ktm auto at about 7 years old. I started going to proper tracks and got into racing even though I got last every time I still loved it so much! I carried on worked my way up the ladder, and when on 85 I realised I wanted to do this seriously and try and get good. I trained hard and started to learn fitness and training to do off the bike. I had some good results on 85bw and continued to progress. I missed out on some results and had a couple of disappointing moments on my last year on the 85 but I was ready to take on the challenge of the 125 and hopefully race abroad. I was training very hard off and on the bike to be ready for the big bike. Once on the 125 the plan was to do the GPs however in Spain our friend told us about the European champion where 125’s where scored separate to the 250’s. We decided to fully commit to the European championship but still so the world championship, just maybe not all the rounds. But after starting the 23 season with 2 injuries we had to cancel the ferry to Sardinia because I wasn’t able to ride and we wanted to be 100% for the Europeans. So I went to the 1st round in Denmark ready and raring to go, it was my first race abroad so I was very nervous. I won! Which was amazing, I continued to win every round and then took the championship in Italy
The next plan was to do the gp at Arnhem so I prepared for this and managed to score my first world championship points with a strong 13th in the second moto. I also then won girls nationals for the 5th time which was my last race on the 125. After a very successful rookie 125 season we decided to move up to the 250. I have been training hard this winter in Spain on and off the bike preparing myself for this season riding on my AVT campers KTM working with Brian Jorgensen who has helped me so much to win last year and to get ready for this year, so a big thank you to him. “I hope to have a successful season, stay consistent, and most of all, have fun. I can’t wait! Thanks to AVT for the support.”

This year I am competing in Bridgestone British masters and fastest 40 I will also be wildcarding some dirt-store Acu British championship. I am racing on a Ktm 125cc in the youth class. I had my first bike when I was 7, Ktm 50cc. I only had it a couple weeks as I didn’t really like it. Then few years on when I was 12 I had another go and got a ktm 85cc and loved it. I’ve raced nationals for the last 2 years. last year I had no luck with bike problems not managing to finish many races and ending up with no good overalls. I got a few good races in last year my best position was 7th in dirt-store Acu British championship. Had a few top 10s in Bridgestone British masters and dirt-store Acu. I am hoping for a good year in 2024 hopefully mange to get some more top 10s and hopefully have a good overall in the championship at the end of the year. I have been putting in the hours on my bike with Justin morris training trying to get me in best position for the season a head. I am also so please to have AVT campers Ktm behind me and can’t thank AVT campers enough for everything they are doing for me.
